Neurodivergent-informed therapy, online, priced by who you see
Neurodivergent-informed psychologists, social workers, counsellors, ADHD coaches and autism coaches online across Australia.
In brief. Inner Help therapy is delivered online by neurodivergent-informed practitioners on our roster. Each one is checked against the AHPRA register or their professional association. A short questionnaire matches you to a therapist who suits how you work. You pay per session at your practitioner's published fee, and where you hold a Mental Health Treatment Plan we lodge your Medicare rebate for you after each session, so a psychologist session costs about $111 to $133 out of pocket and a mental health social worker about $90. Counsellors, ADHD coaches and autism coaches offer a weekly plan with messaging at $119 a week. You do not need a diagnosis to start.
What neurodivergent-informed means
Many people with ADHD or autism have had therapy that did not fit. Homework that never got done. Advice to "just make a list". A therapist who read masking as being fine.
Neurodivergent-informed means the therapist understands ADHD, autism and related differences as part of who you are, not problems to remove. It means adapting how therapy is delivered: flexible structure, written summaries if you lose the thread, permission to fidget or look away, goals set around your life. And it means never aiming to make you seem less neurodivergent.
Some of the therapists on our roster are neurodivergent themselves. All have experience and training in working with neurodivergent adults.
What we help with
Anxiety
Worry, social anxiety, sensory overwhelm and the constant scanning that comes with masking.
Depression and low mood
Including the low mood that follows years of feeling behind or misunderstood.
Burnout
Autistic and ADHD burnout, recovery, and building a life that costs less energy to live.
Executive function
Starting, finishing, planning, time and organisation, with strategies built around how your brain works.
Relationships
Communication differences, conflict, family, parenting and partners who are also neurodivergent.
Late diagnosis
Making sense of a diagnosis in adulthood, grief for what could have been different, and what to do next.
Therapy sits alongside our ADHD assessment and planned autism assessment, but stands on its own. Many people start therapy while deciding about assessment.
How matching works
Answer a short questionnaire
What you want help with, how you like to work, any preferences about your therapist, and whether you want Medicare or weekly plan.
We match you
We suggest a therapist from our roster whose training, approach and availability fit your answers. You see their profile before you book.
Start, and change if needed
If the fit is not right after the first sessions, tell us and we will rematch you. No awkward conversation required.

Each practitioner sets their own fee within our guide; the exact fee and what you pay after the rebate is shown on their card. The weekly plan with messaging is offered by counsellors, ADHD coaches and provisional psychologists. Details on the weekly plan page and the pricing page.
To use a Medicare rebate you need a Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP. If you do not have one, our GP information page can help you start that conversation.
Who the therapists are
Every therapist on our roster is a psychologist or counsellor with training and experience in neurodivergent-informed practice. Psychologists are checked against the AHPRA register. Counsellors are checked against their professional association. We repeat these checks regularly.
Practitioners are verified before they are listed and paid weekly by Inner Help. Nobody pays to be listed, so the match you receive is based on fit.
Founding practitioners are being verified now. Confirmed practitioners appear on the finder as each registration check is recorded.
If you would rather search for yourself, or want someone outside our roster, our therapist finder also lists external practitioners who list with us for free.
If you are in crisis. Inner Help therapy is not a crisis service and messaging is not monitored around the clock. If you are in immediate danger, call 000. For 24-hour support, call Lifeline on 13 11 14 or the Suicide Call Back Service on 1300 659 467.
Get matched
The questionnaire takes about five minutes. There is no charge to be matched and no commitment until you book a first session.
Get matched to a therapist.
A short questionnaire, then a practitioner who understands neurodivergence. Per session with your rebate lodged, or a weekly plan.
Do I need a diagnosis to start therapy?
No. Many people start therapy while wondering whether they are neurodivergent. Your therapist can help you think that through, and can refer you for assessment if you want it.
Psychologist or counsellor, which should I choose?
Both can provide effective therapy. The main practical difference is Medicare. Psychologist sessions can be rebated under a Mental Health Treatment Plan; counsellor sessions cannot. On the weekly plan, the price is the same for both.
Can I switch between weekly plan and per session?
Yes. Tell us and we will move you at the next billing point. If you switch to per session and want the Medicare rebate, you will need a Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP.
What if I do not click with my therapist?
Tell us. We will rematch you at no cost. It is common to need a second match and it does not reflect on you or the therapist.
Is therapy on video as good as in person?
For most people and most concerns, research suggests online therapy is comparable to in-person therapy. Many neurodivergent adults prefer it: no travel, no waiting room, and your own sensory environment.
