Pricing

Inner Help pricing: counsellors, ADHD and autism coaches from $150 a session or $119 a week with messaging, no GP plan needed.

In brief. Most people start with a counsellor, psychotherapist, ADHD coach or autism coach: no GP plan needed, $150 a session as a guide or $119 a week for a weekly plan with messaging. If you want a psychologist, social worker or OT and have a Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP, you pay the published fee (guide $180 to $260) and we lodge the Medicare rebate for you, so the net cost is about $90 to $133. Provisional psychologists are also $150 as a guide. ADHD and autism assessment open in 2026 and their prices will be published in full before they open.

How therapy pricing works

Most people start here

Counsellor, psychotherapist, ADHD or autism coach

  1. No GP visit, no plan. Book from the finder or get matched.
  2. Pay per session, guide $150, or $119 a week for a weekly plan with messaging.
  3. Start when your practitioner has availability. No Medicare rebate applies to these sessions.

Guide cost: $150 a session, or about $515 a month on the weekly plan.

With a Mental Health Treatment Plan

Psychologist, mental health social worker or OT

  1. Your GP writes a plan (a long appointment; up to 10 rebated sessions a year).
  2. You pay the published fee, guide $180 to $260, and we lodge the Medicare claim the same day.
  3. Medicare pays you back $89.50 to $149.05 a session, usually within a day or two.

Net cost: about $90 with a social worker, about $133 with a registered psychologist. Figures from 1 July 2026.

Each practitioner sets their own fee within our guide, and their card on the finder shows the fee and what you pay after the rebate. You pay Inner Help at booking. Where you hold a valid Mental Health Treatment Plan and your practitioner is Medicare-eligible, we lodge the patient claim on your behalf after the session and Services Australia pays the rebate to your nominated bank account, usually within a day or two.

Some practitioners offer a concession rate or bulk billing for eligible clients; filter for them on the finder. Self- and plan-managed NDIS participants can pay from their plan; we issue an NDIS-compliant invoice for each session.

No-shows and cancellations with less than 24 hours notice are charged at 50% of the session fee. Medicare rebates do not apply to non-attendance.

The weekly plan

Counsellors, ADHD and autism coaches and provisional psychologists offer a weekly plan: one live video session every week plus messaging between sessions, $119 a week billed every four weeks in advance, cancel any time with effect at the end of the current four-week period. It is not Medicare rebatable and is not offered by psychologists or social workers. Details on the weekly plan page.

ADHD and autism assessment

Assessment is not open yet. GP-led ADHD assessment with psychiatrist oversight opens state by state in 2026, and psychologist-led autism assessment later in 2026. The price and the full process, including what happens if ADHD is not diagnosed, will be published before anyone books. Join the waitlist and we will email you first. You do not need a diagnosis to start therapy.

Frequently asked questions

How do I get a Mental Health Treatment Plan?

Book a longer appointment with your GP and ask for a Mental Health Treatment Plan (Medicare items 2715 or 2717). Tell them what has been going on and that you would like to see a psychologist or mental health social worker. You leave with a plan and a referral, which gives you up to ten rebated sessions a calendar year. Our GP page has a summary you can show them.

Do I need a referral to start therapy?

No. You can start without one. A Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP is what makes psychologist and social worker sessions rebatable, so it is worth getting one early.

How is the rebate paid?

You pay the full fee to Inner Help, we lodge the Medicare claim for you after the session, and Services Australia pays the rebate into the bank account you have registered with Medicare.

Can I use private health insurance?

Some extras policies cover psychology and counselling. You cannot claim Medicare and private health on the same session. Use the receipt we issue to claim from your fund.

Can I use my NDIS plan?

Yes if you are self- or plan-managed. We issue an NDIS-compliant invoice with your participant number and the support item. Agency-managed participants cannot use Inner Help yet.

What if I need to cancel?

More than 24 hours before the session, no charge. Less than 24 hours, or a no-show, 50% of the fee. Weekly plan cancellations take effect at the end of the current four-week period.

When will assessment pricing be published?

Before assessment opens in your state in 2026. Waitlist members hear first.
