Find a neurodivergent-affirming therapist
Search verified neurodivergent-affirming psychologists and counsellors across Australia.
In brief. The Inner Help finder lists psychologists and counsellors who work in a neurodivergent-affirming way. Every verified listing is checked against the AHPRA register or the practitioner's professional association; unclaimed directory listings are marked as such and carry no verification claim. Filter by telehealth, Medicare, NDIS, what they help with, their approach and whether they are taking new clients. There are no star ratings, because Australian rules do not allow them for health services. If you would rather be matched than search, use the short questionnaire below.
Search the finder
Filter by state, what you want help with and how you want to work. Listings are shown in alphabetical order, never ranked or paid for.
Pins mark the postcode or suburb a practitioner lists, never a practice address. Coral pins are verified Inner Help listings, grey pins are unclaimed directory listings. Click a cluster to zoom, a pin for details.

Who is listed
Three kinds of practitioners appear in the finder:
Inner Help roster
Psychologists and counsellors who deliver our therapy service. They are paid by Inner Help, matched to you by questionnaire, and available on our weekly plan or per-session pricing. Marked "Inner Help roster" in results.
Listed practitioners
Independent psychologists, counsellors and allied health practitioners who have claimed their listing and confirmed their details with us. You contact and pay them directly, on their own terms.
Unclaimed directory listings
Practitioners across Australia who state publicly that they work with ADHD or autism, compiled from public professional directories. These show only factual details (profession as published, location, telehealth, and contact details where the practitioner publishes them). They are not verified by Inner Help, are not affiliated with us, and can be claimed, corrected or removed by the practitioner at any time. Untick "Include unclaimed directory listings" to hide them.
Roster and listed practitioners go through the same verification. Being on our roster does not move a practitioner higher in results, and nobody pays to be listed or to be ranked. Unclaimed listings appear after verified listings and carry no fee, availability or verification information.
How we verify listings
Before any listing goes live we check it:
- Psychologists are checked against the AHPRA public register: current registration, registration type, and any conditions or undertakings shown on the register.
- Counsellors are checked against their professional association, such as the Australian Counselling Association or PACFA, for current membership at a practising level.
- Other allied health practitioners, such as occupational therapists or social workers, are checked against AHPRA or the relevant national body.
We re-check listings on a regular cycle and remove any that lapse. Verification confirms that a practitioner is registered and in good standing. It does not assess the quality of their work, which is why the filters and profile matter. Unclaimed directory listings have not been through this check; the profile says so plainly, and we show the profession exactly as the practitioner published it.
Filters
Telehealth
Video, phone or in person. Most listings offer video, which means location need not limit you.
Medicare
Psychologists who accept a Mental Health Treatment Plan, and whether they bulk bill or charge a gap.
NDIS
Practitioners who work with self-managed or plan-managed NDIS participants, and any who are NDIS registered.
What they help with
ADHD, autism, AuDHD, anxiety, depression, burnout, trauma, relationships, late diagnosis and more.
Approach
CBT, ACT, schema therapy, EMDR, somatic, coaching-style, and whether the practitioner identifies as neurodivergent themselves.
Accepting new clients
Updated by practitioners. Availability shown is indicative; confirm when you contact them.
Why there are no ratings
You will not find star ratings or reviews in the finder. This is deliberate. Under the National Law and AHPRA advertising guidelines, health services registered with AHPRA must not use testimonials in advertising, and platforms that host them can put practitioners at risk. We think that rule protects you too. Therapy is personal, and a rating from a stranger says little about whether a practitioner will suit you.
Instead, each profile describes the practitioner's training, experience, approach and the way they work with neurodivergent adults, in their own words. You can filter on the things that matter, then contact the person and ask questions before booking.
Not sure where to start?
Searching works well if you know what you want. If you would rather have us suggest someone, the matching questionnaire takes about five minutes. It matches you to a therapist on the Inner Help roster based on what you want help with, how you like to work and how you want to pay.
Get matched to a therapist.
A short questionnaire, then a practitioner who understands neurodivergence. Per session with your rebate lodged, or a weekly plan.
For practitioners: list free
If you are a psychologist, counsellor or allied health practitioner who works in a neurodivergent-affirming way, you can list on the finder at no cost. There is no fee to list, no fee for enquiries and no paid placement. We verify your registration, publish your profile, and you manage your own availability. See information for practitioners.
If you would like to deliver therapy through Inner Help itself, the same page explains how our roster works and how therapists are paid.
Is the finder free to use?
Yes. There is no charge to search, view profiles or contact practitioners.
What does "neurodivergent-affirming" mean here?
Practitioners on the finder state that they work with neurodivergent people as different, not deficient, and adapt their approach accordingly. We ask every practitioner to confirm this when they list. We cannot audit every session, so if a listing does not live up to it, tell us.
How do I know a listing is current?
Each profile shows when its registration was last checked and when the practitioner last updated availability. If a listing looks out of date, let us know and we will re-check it.
Can I use Medicare with an external practitioner?
If they are a psychologist and you have a Mental Health Treatment Plan, usually yes. Filter by Medicare and confirm fees with the practitioner before booking.
Why does a listing say "unclaimed"?
It was compiled from a public professional directory where the practitioner states they work with ADHD or autism. We have not verified it and the practitioner has not confirmed it. If you are that practitioner, open the listing and choose claim, correct or remove; removal is immediate.
What is the difference between roster and external listings?
Roster therapists deliver Inner Help therapy on our pricing and are paid by us. External practitioners run their own practices and set their own fees. Both are verified the same way, and neither is ranked above the other.
