Release past & recent trauma
The root cause of addiction and codependency can be found in past and recent trauma.
Root cause therapy can release trauma, making way for healthier coping strategies to be developed.
Identify causes of addictive behaviours
The causes of addictive behaviours are frequently a result of unmet childhood needs.
RCT helps identify the root causes so they can be resolved and new ways to have needs met can be implemented.
Learn to manage emotions
Addiction and codependency are a result of not having the tools or capacity to manage trauma and stress.
RCT helps build confidence in your ability to manage life without turning to people, places, and things outside yourself.
Go inward & find your real strength
Discover the latent inner strength and capacity you have to face trauma and move beyond it to live the life you truly deserve.
RCT provides a safe way to look at and release trauma that has been holding you back.
HOW DO YOU RECOVER FROM ADDICTION AND CODEPENDENCY?
Addiction and codependency can feel like a life sentence, but with awareness and a deeper understanding of the root causes, it is possible to heal and move beyond addictive behaviours and the codependency that underlies them.
The roots of addiction and codependency can be found in trauma experienced during the formative childhood years from birth (and sometimes in utero) to seven. During this period, if a child does not experience secure attachment, as an adult, they may present with anxiety and addictive behaviours, which may be compounded by other traumatic experiences.
At Inner Help, our founder Adam Ducquet, is passionate about bringing greater awareness, resources, and healthier coping strategies to people who want to understand the root cause of addictive behaviours and codependency.
Knowing whether you are ready for recovery is an important step in the recovery journey. It requires courage and honesty, however, the journey does not need to be taken alone.
Adam Ducquet is the founder of Inner Help, a practice dedicated to helping people who are suffering with addiction and codependency.
One of three boys, Adam experienced anxiety and depression from an early age. After the suicide of his older brother, and car accident death of his younger brother, Adam spiralled into addiction. The anxiety-depression-addiction cycle wreaked havoc in his adult life, and he experienced suicidal ideation many times.
Now providing service as a Root Cause Therapist, Adam believes his significant lived experience provides a real and deep resource of learning and support for his clients. Having walked his own recovery, through Inner Help, Adam is forging a new understanding of addiction based on the recognition that addiction is a strategy for coping with trauma, stress, and anxiety.
He uses that understanding to help destigmatize the ‘addict’ label so people suffering from past and present trauma can learn to reparent themselves and develop new healthier ways of managing emotions and life.
